One of the things that are a good way to become a better trader might be a smaller account size for your real account.

All the tests are very time consuming, but I think it is worth it.

Why do you think are there so many ways to enter a trade? Maybe because different people prefer different entry signals? From time to time you will notice that even small changes can make a big difference.

Most indicators try to predict the future by looking at the past. So what do you think? Using several small accounts doesn’t mean that you can’t trade big accounts. But it means that my trading capital is not deposited on one broker account.

Some things about trading seem to be complicated, but some things are easy to understand.

For each and every change I did, I always had to do a lot of back tests to find out if everything works as desired.

You need to have components for things like the position size. In my case, the position size is dynamically calculated. This is one of the things that we can influence. It is a good idea to pick a setting that produces enough momentum to make some profit while it is low enough to avoid huge drawdowns. Little decisions can have a big impact.

And I really like the fact that it is possible to see all the different results with an automated trading system.

Would you lose any sleep about a potential loss on a demo account? Probably not, because most people don’t consider demo account losses to be real. What kind of trader are you?

There are some people who are willing to trade whatever somebody recommends.

I often compare trading with sailing. You need to have enough wind to get the speed that is required, but too much wind will cause problems. That is called a storm.

Usually I avoid currency pairs that contain the Swiss franc. The reason is simple. I made a big loss in January 2015 because the Swiss National Bank decided to give up the bonding between the euro price and the Swiss franc. A lot of people think that common sense is helpful, but trading is against human nature. For good trading results, you need to have enough trading capital.

But how much is enough?

Use an account size so small that losing the whole account will not affect your emotions and a total loss will not affect your lifestyle. The really important test is always how things work out on a real account.

We use moving averages in trading to find out if the price is above or below what we consider to be the average price.
